*** That's what I thought. But what threw me off was the reference to 
the stumbling block of 'one's ego'; which I thought was a part of the 
same package as  the 'noble-endeavor', but which in your note read as 
something that was placed by somebody else, outside of the 
'noble-endeavor' package . And I thought--oh, poor Rini again :-)!
