[Assam] Momy Saikia's point of view

Hi Momy,
I hadn't read your earlier email. I missed it possibly because I may have
just browsed over the Subject matter and never opened it.

Looking back on your comments and the view points raised by well meaning
netters,I would say that yes, not all the contributions on the net are
materials you might want to spend time reading. But this is a voice.
Unless people speak you will not know somebody elses point of view. And
there are many a few people who are trying to do what they can. If you
will read Ankur Bora's email on pictures of Assam. He has been
instrumental in trying to get people to get some funding for some projects
along with many others that I know of. The web site you wanted to make, to
help students is a very good idea. There is already a assamese forum of
proffessionals which is trying to help students. You might like to
correspond to Partha Gogoi at partha_gogoi at yahoo.com

Another point I would like to make. If you are looking for the "ami
okhomia, horol monor manuh" feeling from the non resident Assamese. You
wont find it here.

I live in Hyderabad and though I am a half assamese from my mothers side,
our culture back home is assamese. Many a time I came home after my
official tours and found total strangers as guest for couple of days at my
house. They just came to our houses with references from other assamese
friends in Assam. This is how most assamese people are. But once you leave
the country, this is a rarity.

To say that you would give up your dreams just because one person did not
respond properly would only mean that your dreams were not strong enough.
I don't think you meant that!

Every body in the net is not made up of the same metal. Some like to bring
out issues. Some act on it while many prefer to be armchair activists. But
if nobody speaks then there is no voice!

I would urge you to be on the net.
