[Assam] Momy Saikia's point of view

Very well said Mohan.

But I do not share your perception:

>"ami okhomia, horol monor manuh" feeling from the non resident Assamese. You
>wont find it here.

*** In fact it is completely to the contrary. I have known many
kharkhowas in these shores. I cannot cite a single instance of
meeting anyone who would
fit your perceptions.

What you probably are referring to is the absence of that traditional
Oxomiya un-assertiveness, uncritical acceptance of all things and
that unquestioning submission to 'authority' and authority figures.
That however, I think is a POSITIVE attribute. While such irreverence
is disconcerting to the mellow dispositions we are so used to, it
does not in any way indicate a loss of the traditional acceptance and
inclusiveness that the Oxomiyas excel in and are rightfully proud of.
Of course there always are exceptions :-).

*** Very well said here Mohan. If I believe in something and I feel
it needs doing and that I am capable of doing it, I would go at it
even if no-one supports me. And I have been doing just that :-) in
Assam Net for many years. I don't need others' validation or
participation in it. That is self-assuredness that Oxomiyas need, a
lot!
