Mukul-da,

interesting observations by you but in Indian context my comments may be true. Also there are other ways of spending money -than just wine and women.

Drinking--in Bangladesh? Gambling -maybe. Women- again they would rather marry one more.
  No Drinks there.
As I observed-- or maybe men are banned by Grameen bank. Read the fine print in their prospectus. Safe borrowers-women! Do not borrow and then commit suicide. Lust for Life!

  Mukul-da,

I think males use that money to get wine or women or gamble it away -so based on research I think-Yunus relied on women who generally are more likely to take care of their children and family -esp in pooor nations. Isn't the image of a drunkard husband and a responsible wife common in developing countries?

It shows that Mohammad Yunus' bank's 94% customers are women with a 98% repayment rate. What about men -- it seems women are more responsible than men (i think I read about that or heard from some prof who had been to Bangladesh to see the work first hand).
