Dunlop plans Rs 450-cr tyre plant in Asom 

GUWAHATI, Aug 25: Dunlop India chairman Pawan Ruia recently said a soon-to-be floated associate company of the tyre firm will invest Rs 450 crore for setting up a greenfield tyre plant near Guwahati to take advantage of the fiscal benefits provided to industry in the North-east. Ruia said, the DPR for the proposed Guwahati plant is almost ready. “We have already acquired 60 acres near Guwahati airport. Production is likely to start in 18 months. We will get excise benefits and a 30 per cent capital subsidy. The plant will source rubber from Tripura which will be an added advantage,” he said. The Guwahati plant would have a capacity of 50 tonnes per day and manufacture truck tyres and OTR.
