The North East States stand out as something unique. 



 

Easily bordering with half a dozen countries it grapples with political identity - including refugee influx - as much as socio-economic problems. The high scatter of the general populace in this difficult terrain means there are never enough schools in the immediate vicinity to make education available to all. Torrential rains during the monsoons drive the meager roadway infrastructure into disuse thus isolating the communities for months on end.




It is in such a setting that a couple of Asha projects have taken root. Jeevan Sadhana Vidya Niketan (Assam) & Ratanmani Vidyalaya (Tripura) have ventured to establish schools and a few other support wings such as self-help groups, income generation schemes,
 women's health & hygiene, general health care services, environmental awareness, etc. They are functioning in an area where not much else reaches in the form of governmental aid. 



 

Jeevan Sadhana Vidya Niketan is in need of new classrooms which were destroyed by the monsoons & subsequent termite infestation. Ratanmani Vidyalaya is looking to add Grades up to X & expand their hostel facilities to cater to the burgeoning school mass.
