Hi A:
Don't go looking for Jilmil xaak or Khutora xaak in stores, not in
Whole Foods, not in Oriental stores. Yes you CAN find Morisaa xaak in
the latter. But for khutora and jilmil, you will have to go to some
freshly ploughed fields that have not been plastered with herbicides.
We get to pick a lot in our vegetable patch, all volunteers.
BTW, the jilmil-xaak, which do not grow very large in Assam, usually
about a foot tall, grow to giant sizes in the USA, and is considered
one of the top ten most invasive weeds in this country. Some of them
have become resistant to some of the strongest herbicides. Their tiny
seeds fly and spread wide, lie dormant for years until the ground is
disturbed and then they emerge with a vengeance.
