PG diploma course on rural development

GUWAHATI, Jan 23 The National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD) of the Union Ministry of Rural Development launched yesterday a one-year full-time Post-Graduate Diploma Course on Rural Development. The North Eastern Council (NEC) has supported the course, which aims at preparing a pool of competent rural development managers.
An NIRD press release here said that launching the course, NIRD Director General K N Kumar said that 16 of the 60 seats of the course would be reserved for the students of the NE region, as, the course focuses on the rural development of the region. The course will start from June next. Any graduate can apply for the course and the aspirants will have to appear in the entrance test similar to the Common Admission Test and Management Aptitude Test followed by the Indian Institute of Management, said Kumar.
The course will address key management issues in rural development, provide insights and analytical skills for planning and managing as well as developing capacities, infuse right attitudes and groom the students as rural change managers.
Kumar also said that the NIRD will not only help students to get education loans from banks for the course, but will also support them in finding placements in Government, non-Government agencies and corporate organisations.
