*Bharalu flyover
*  Sir, – The idea of a flyover over the Bharalu rivulet is indeed a welcome
initiative. A well-planned, well-designed and well-built flyover over the
rivulet Bharalu will serve the traffic clogged Guwahatians in many ways. But
if we accept the PWD supervised drainage system in Guwahati as an example of
what can be envisioned of such a project, the Rs 500 crore project will be
nothing but a waste of public money besides being a future headache to all
concerned Guwahatians unless the Guwahati Development Authority considers
hiring foreign firm with expertise in such projects. Even before the flyover
is constructed, the Bharalu rivulet must be converted into a well-drained
canal, obviously built with concrete with suitable valve to prevent back
flow from the mighty river Brahmaputra without which the proposed flyover
will just be an impractical dream. I wish to draw the attention of the
authorities concerned so that the proposed flyover is well built for which
