News on phone from AIR, Guwahati:
   
   
  The Assamese news  bulletin prepared by All India Radio, Guwahati, will now be available over phone.
  To make the latest news and happenings across the state and outside more accessible to the people, the Guwahati station of All India Radio would start the 'News on Phone' service from next Tuesday. 
  The service would be formally launched by Dr PK Bandopadhyaya, Director General(News), AIR, New Delhi. This service was first launched in AIR, New Delhi. At present AIR is running the service from Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Patna, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Thiruvanathapuram, Jaipur, Imphal, Lucknow and Raipur stations. 
  Guwahati would be the second AIR station in the North East to have News on Phone (NoP) service, after Manipur and 13th station in the country. 
  People of Guwahati region would be able to listen to regional Assamese news highlights by simply dialing BSNL Telephone No 125800 and the national news highlights on 125900. People from outside the region would be required to dial STD Code of Guwahati 0361, prior to dialing both the numbers. 
  The service is also likely to be started from Kolkata and Shimla AIR stations shortly.
