[Assam] Cow Dung can be source of clean, renewable power

The process of generating renewable energy from manure is already in use for
many years. The 1st World Conference and Technology Exhibition on Biomass
for Energy and Industry was held in Sevilla in June 2000.

In Uganda they produce fuel from Human excreta. In China, Kenya and Tanzania
institutions mix human and animal excreta, giving off good grade methane,
while some institutions in China make biogas from only human excreta.

India has a National Biogas and Manure Management programme (NBMMP)
introduced in 1981-1982. Question is: Is any organisation in assam a part of
it?

Cow Dung can be source of clean, renewable power.

WASHINGTON: Cow dung can generate enough power to meet three per cent of
North America's entire energy needs and cut down greenhouse gas emissions.
Cow dung, left to decompose naturally, emits two particularly potent
greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) - nitrous oxide and methane.

Nitrous oxide warms the atmosphere 310 times more than carbon dioxide,
methane does so 21 times more, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change (IPCC).....more
