Asam Sahitya Sabha session from Feb 14

 SILAPATHAR, Feb 3 – Brisk preparations are going on to hold the 70th
biennial session of Asam Sahitya Sabha at Samanway Kshetra Sukapa
Pathar at Dhemaji with a five-day-long programme on February 14-18.

The
celebration committee has been working day and night to make the
programme success. The Dhemaji session was to be held from February 4,
but due to financial crisis, it was postponed till February 14.

At
present the works for construction of the 300 × 160 ft main pandal,
book fair pandal, business pandals are on in full swing at Sukapha
Pathar Samanway Kshetra. The celebration committee has occupied around
200 bighas for the event which will have a seating capacity of 5000
persons in the main pandal.

The Ellora decorators of Guwahati
have taken the charge of construction works of pandals of Dhemaji
session. This particular decorator had successfully decorated the
previous four sessions of Asam Sahitya Sabha and three Bodo Sahitya
Sabha sessions.

The general public of Dhemaji district are ready
to work for the sahitya sabha and are waiting for a call of the
reception committee.

The main pandal will be 30 feet high and 60
feet wide. In the session, several books will be released. The
reception committee has decided to release 18 books in the session. A
noted publisher of Dhemaji has prepare 25 books to be released in the
session.

According to the reception committee, MLA of Jonai
Bhuban Pegu, MLA of Dhemaji Sumitra Patir, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi
and Krishi Shramik union of undivided Lakhimpur have declared to offer
a meal each for the session.

Though preparation for the Dhemaji
session is in full swing, the road communication is in bad shape. Due
to the negligent attitude of concerned authorities, water supply,
electricity and road communication of Dhemaji are in a poor condition.
The people of the area have expressed that they will have to face
innumerable problems because of the poor road communication.
