MUSHALPUR, Feb 24 – Micro water supply system introduced in Subankhata areas in Baksa district have relieved the people to some extent where acute shortage of drinking water has remained a vexed problem since ages.

As per unofficial reports, over 15 such tanks have been constructed in Subankhata areas which includes one each at Uttarkuchi, Bandarguri, Odalguri, Satgaon, Dakshinkuchi, Jopadong Milan Chowk, Jopadong Bicharpur, Uttar Subankhata, Bijgaon and Amguri, two tanks at Subankhata and three tanks at Maithabari while some others are under construction.

As per the population of the villages, small to medium size tanks have been built with a capacity of 500 to 1500 litre of water. The generators for power supply are under the users’ supervision and operation. With the installation of the micro water supply system, the age-old dependence of the village people on rivers and ponds for drinking water has noticeably come down. With this, the impact of water-born diseases is also expected to minimisethis year.
