*** Or one might say, things in India don't change, IIT or not.
*** I too have horror stories to tell of BC Roy Hospital. I was
treated for a whole week for Typhoid, when I actually had Hepatitis
A. But I have no bad feelings--I survived. My doctor was my good
friend and class-mate's dad.
I too injured myself on that basketball court next to Gymkhana. The
rough concrete slab took a huge
patch of skin off of one of my knees. Went to BCRH. They gave me a
tetanus TEST shot and asked me to wait to see if I reacted. I did,
and was hospitalized. But having had homework to do, in my
perspiration soaked play clothes, I sneaked right out of my hospital
room. An hour later when I began to swell up all over from allergic
reaction, I returned to the hospital. Shortly thereafter a janitor
seeing my condition ran off to call the emergency doctor, who,
mercifully was on the premises and saved me from going into
anaphylactic shock and possible death.
