I am sure there is a huge luxury tax added on . The airlines in India
announce prices like Rs. 2500 to Guwahati (from Cal), and the tax would be
something like Rs 3800.

Here too there are huge price differences within the series. Mercs E Series
or even the BMW 5 range from the 30s to well over 60, and with options it
could be much more.

The other day I saw a Toyota Camry advertising fro $15000 +.  That seemed
awfully low for a Camry. My thoughts were whether that price was with brakes
:-)

Generally, the prices seem lower. But these manufacturers play with the car
models. There are many models that you would see in some countries and not
in others. In India's case, hopefully, they are selling the same quality
cars they do in Munich or here.

I keep hearing that both Chevy and Ford are doing pretty good sales in
India.
