      Dear All,

This is to inform you all that we (Dr. Arindam Adhikari and Dr. Mukut Gohain) on behalf of North East India Research Forum in association with Pragyan -Tinsukia college organized a lecture cum interactive session on 17th of April 2010 at Tinsukia College. Prof. Arvind Anant Natu from IISER-Pune was invited for the event to talk on 'Opportunities in Pure Sciences'. The main aim of the lecture was to motivate students towards pure science for higher education. It was a successful event and many students, teachers and guardians from Tinsukia and Dibrugarh district participated in that event.

On that day I briefed the audience about North East India Research Forum and N.E.Quest. On the same event/meeting, I along with Dr. Mukut Gohain raised the issue of Need of a Higher Science and Technology Institute in the Tinsukia District. Despite having all resources Tinsukia District does not have any higher educational institute.

That was the starting point. After that we met many people and organisations of Tinsukia district irrespective of religion, political background to mobilise support on this issue. All the Organisations and conscious people whom we were able to meet till now have appreciated our effort and have come forward to raise the issue in united voice. We are visiting different places of Tinsukia district and meeting many people / organisations almost every day to make them aware of our issue and mobilise the support. Everybody is happy in our noble effort and we are getting support from all quarters of the society, as per our knowledge nobody has ever raised such issue from Tinsukia district. Now on 16th of May we have organized a public meeting to discuss on this issue and formulate how to proceed in this matter in near future. Some of the organisations/ societies which are associated with us in the move are given below-

1. Tinsukia Branch Asom Sahitya Sabha, 2. Assam Science Society, Tinsukia Branch, 3.Gyan Bigyan Samiti, Tinsukia, 4. Nikhil Bongo Sahitya Sanmelan, 5. Hindi Sahitya Sabha, 6. Moran, Matak, Tai-Ahom, Chutia, Chah Janagosti, Marowari, Bihari, Bengali organisations around Tinsukia district, 7. All Assam Student Union 8. Asom Jatiyabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad 9. All the colleges from Tinsukia, Digboi, Margherita, Doomdooma, Kakopothar, Makum, Panitola, Bordubi area etc.

In short we could bring all the social organisations/ societies together on this issue and all are meeting on 16th May and discuss how to move ahead.

Please support us in this issue. Your valuable comment is most welcome.

Thanking you

Sincerely

Arindam Adhikari
