>>>> Uttam,Is your wife's aunt a true Kamrupiya?XXX Yes. She's from UK [(Uttar Kamrup :-)]: namely Bongxor. At present, her folks reside in the little Kamrup " Xantipur",near about Alpana Baideo's parental home.
>>>>> The correct sentence would have been, " Rowe na xorkei?", meaning, "Does she get stuck or does she pass through?"XXX I confirmed it. It was my failure to transliterate the accent ( i.e the 'Dhek' or Xobdor Bhar)It is difficult to write guttural or throaty words e.g. "Taekina" (Sengelia)with 't':-) Dr.Debabrata Sarma had assured me over phone a couple of weeks back that it would be their effort in Oxomiya Jatiyo Abhidhan to incorporate the local words with local pronunciation,if need be, by incorporating the vowels/sounds involved.
>>>>> Could you please explain what all these exams are about - CSBE, SEBA etc. for class X, or HSLC exams? I have lost touch with the exam systems in Assam. In our days there were Matriculation (class X), Pre-university, Higher secondary (class XI). How do they match up now? I am at a loss, that is why I am asking you.
Any information I get will help.XXXX CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), an all-India Board.SEBA (Board of Secondary Education, Assam), a state Board. CBSE holds the Class X and Class XII exams. The syllabi too are differentfor the State and the Central Boards. In Assam, there is a Higher Secondary Council for Class XII exam.Class XII is equivalent to Pre-university or Intermediate or under-graduate.Class X is High School leaving, as in the past.
