The OII has extended our search for a Survey Research Officer and will
accept applications until 10th  September 2004. Please feel free to pass

Survey Research Officer 

RESEARCH STAFF GRADE IA: £18,893 to £28,279 

The Oxford Internet Institute seeks a full-time survey research officer
with training in one or more of the social sciences and specialised
experience and skill in survey research and data analysis in an
academic, government or business setting. Candidates should be able to
design a database, or take a database from a survey firm or archive and
format it as instructed, and undertake multivariate statistical
analysis. The ability to construct clear tables and graphics that
address particular questions in ways understandable to a non-technical
audience is also essential. In addition, the survey research officer
should be capable of developing analyses for social science audiences
and academic journals. There will be opportunities for co-authored
publications.




Based in the heart of Oxford, this new department in the University’s
social sciences division aims to become the world’s leading
multi-disciplinary academic centre studying the impact of the Internet
on society. The survey research officer will work with senior staff
primarily on the conduct and analysis of the Oxford Internet Surveys
(OxIS), other research and survey efforts may from time to time require
the post-holder’s involvement. OxIS will conduct personal interviews
with a probability sample of UK households to focus on trends in the
diffusion and social implications of the Internet. Analysis of related
national and international databases will be done for comparative and
other analytical purposes.

The post is available from 1st October 2004, or as soon thereafter as
possible, for two years in the first instance with the possibility of
renewal thereafter.
