Dear fellow AOIR'ers --

I am pleased to announce the creation of the UMBC Center for Cybersecuity, which was formally launched this past Wednesday at MDC3 in Baltimore, MD. (which also partially explains why I wasn't at #ir13.)

The Center for Cybersecurity is an interdisciplinary university center that unifies UMBC’s many cybersecurity and cybersecurity-related capabilities. It aims to provide both Maryland and the nation with academic and research leadership, collaboration, innovation, and outreach in this critical discipline by streamlining our academic, research, workforce development, and technology incubation activities to advance UMBC’s position as a leading research university in cybersecurity-related disciplines. (CS Prof. Anupam Joshi serves as Director, and I am the Assistant Director.)

From an Internet Research perspective, I'm happy to see that the term "interdisciplinary" was used quite a bit in planning this center, which aligns quite closely with my views on the discipline and in particular, what my background and interests can bring to this venture.....and why I'm passing this announcement along to my interdisciplinary-minded AOIR'ers!

More information about the Center and its activities can be found at http://cybersecurity.umbc.edu.
