        Assam University offers new courses 
    A STAFF REPORTER TELEGRAPH INDIA    Cachar       Dec. 20: The Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) will introduce various courses in construction management and administration at Assam University, Silchar.
  The Planning Commission established the council in 1996, with the members of the Indian Construction Industry as the apex organisation, to meet the construction industry’s requirements for professionals and technical teachers.
  A university official said application forms would be accepted upto January 14 and courses will commence on March 8. 
  The courses offered are diploma in civil/electrical and mechanical engineering, post-graduate diploma in construction management and administration, post-graduate diploma in trenchless technology and post-graduate diploma in construction and industrial dispute resolution. 
  “The construction industry has grown tremendously, creating a need for skilled manpower,” a university official said. The courses will help upgrade the technical knowhow of those engaged in construction activities and those aspiring to join the industry. 
  The official said there are unlimited growth opportunities after completing the courses. “Youths who want to venture into new avenues will find the courses particularly helpful,” he added.
  He said the courses would help them to think logically, deal with uncertainty, apply technology in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and communicate effectively.
