" *** ...... But that was EXACTLY what was ASSERTED by Dilp Deka , Ram Sarangapani and others who raised their voices in defense of the so called 'democratically elected governments of Assam or India. Let alone "exactly asserted", I never talked about papers in the original discussion on the topic "Who is the Sentinel of Freedom?". If you look at the string of the emails, you can see for yourself.
Xourov asked me about my opinion on "people holding papers" and I just posted my opinion in another email.
Without natural impenetrable border, it is a tough battle to stop migration of people. That is the very reason some in mighty USA are proposing to allow free migration between USA, Canada and Mexico that will reduce border worries for these three neighbors. What do you think of this idea?
Also, do you think India can stop illegal migration from Bangladesh to India by building a fence? I think not.

Yes, having a world without the international border would be great. A lot of problems in Assam itself would get solved automatically then.

*** That is a false hypothesis and opining for is it disingenuous. That is not what Xourov intended or implied. I realize it is tactic that many of our friends employ: To set up an obviously illogical or exaggerated expectation or standard and then to demonize it. But it is not a sincere attempt to deal with the issue.

What kind of papers do they have? A card with their name and photograph, a ration card, a unique identification number? Who issued them these? The Assam/India government? So the government is considered efficient now? It is encouraging to know this. From when they become so organized?

*** Neither Xourov nor I suggested that the government that issuers false papers to illegal immigrants
is either 'efficient' or legitimate. But that was EXACTLY what was ASSERTED by Dilp Deka , Ram Sarangapani and others who raised their voices in defense of the so called 'democratically elected governments of Assam or India. It is for them to EXPLAIN how they will deal with those papers that legitimize the supposedly B'deshis' existence in Assam. That is why Xourov asked the question he did.

Now we are all ears here, waiting with bated breath how DD or RS will explain the obvious conflict here. Both of the positions cannot stand. Let us see which one.

They do have papers like millions of other (illegal) Bangladeshis in Assam. As long as they don't merge Assam with Bangladesh by having a plebiscite in 50 years with those overly-populated Bangladeshis in Assam. I am sure those advocates will scream without knowing/recognizing history - in a democracy, it is what the majority (previously illegal but now legal Bangladeshis) wants. Scary, huh?

*** Sorry A, but your position has no legs to stand on.

  Xourov,
Let's talk about before and after the international border disappears between India and Bangladesh.
Before: Bangladeshis should have the freedom to live wherever they want in Bangladesh, not in India.

That is not what Xourov asked. He asked what you will do about these people who will produce the papers and will be let go by the police.
Want to give it a try :-)?

After: Bangladeshis should be able to live wherever they want in Bangladesh or India. If the concept of international borders disappears altogether and everyone is a citizen of the world, that freedom should extend even to Pakistan, China, USA or any other place.

to speak, to choose where to live, how to make a living, religion, culture and the freedom to vote?

as you probably know, these people who have been
caught have the papers. the police will be releasing
them very soon.
