[Assam] About the Name Assam

*** If I were to have known that, I would not refer to the only 
verifiable written account  dating back to 1691 of the Dutch 
shipwrecked chronicler.

But those who are SURE that Oxom was always ( at least as far back as 
the last known written account of 1691) called Oxom,  then they are 
the ones who can show the proof from which their certitude comes.


*** BTW  that advice to Oxom Xahityo Xobha to look up 'buranji's was 
a good one.  Funny they never thought of that all these decades 
since Asam Sahitya Sabha was formed under the aegis of their British 
mentor, in England (?). Or did they?

*** Also what might  those books  referred to in "I have in my 
possession books written/compiled by British officers where the word 
Assam is used. " --be? Perhaps others have seen them too and offer 
their opinions on their veracity or trustworthiness.
